Hope in Action: Issue No. 1
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Welcome to the very first edition of Hope in Action, the Elpis International newsletter. We are grateful to begin sharing these updates with you and hope this will be the first of many throughout the year.
We’re excited to give you a closer look at the ministry of Elpis International in Ethiopia and the encouraging ways your support is bringing hope to those who need it most. In each newsletter, we’ll highlight stories from our children’s program, widows outreach, and pastoral support network—so you can see how God is using Elpis and your generosity in real and visible ways.
For those newer to our community, Elpis has been serving children, widows, and pastors in Ethiopia since 2008. What began as a small, faith-filled effort to care for 18 impoverished orphaned children has grown into a vibrant ministry marked by God’s provision and the compassion of more than 800 faithful supporters like you.
Today, just under 130 children receive three nutritious meals each day, school tuition, clothing, medical care, and daily spiritual and emotional guidance from loving staff who faithfully pour into their lives. Our 62 widows receive monthly allotments of oil and flour or grain for their traditional meals, along with medical care and ongoing encouragement. Additionally, 102 native pastors and missionaries are supported through monthly financial assistance, regular discipleship from Pastor Michael Arega, and an annual conference held during our mission trip to Awassa—a meaningful time of teaching, prayer, fellowship, and encouragement.
This past year, we’ve seen God move in powerful ways: 15 new children welcomed into the Elpis family, a couple of new sponsor churches joining together to support Elpis’ mission, students thriving academically, graduates finding employment, widows having their needs met, and pastors reaching new communities with the Gospel. We look forward to sharing more of these stories with you in the months ahead.

End of Year Giving Statements were sent out this week. If you do not receive one by the end of next week, Elpis may need an updated mailing address for you. Please contact us (info@elpisinternational.org) so we can update our records and get your statement to you. We are thankful for your faithful generosity and partnership in the ministry.
Details about sending your sponsored child a backpack are coming soon! Be on the lookout! This is a special highlight, for both the child and the sponsor, and a meaningful way to build a personal connection.
