ELPIS INTERNATIONAL FEEDING CENTERS

Nourishing Bodies, Nurturing Hope

Bahir Dar Center

Established 2011

Our Bahir Dar center is located in the Northwest part of Ethiopia and was established in 2011. God had originally put this vision of reaching the Northern part of Ethiopia in the heart of Pastor Michael and the Elpis team. And through much prayer and support, the Lord made a way for Elpis to extend its hands to one of the most religiously contentious and hostile places in the country. And for the past 14 years by Gods grace we have been supporting local orphans, widows and evangelists of the region.

And we currently support 70 children and 40 widows monthly in our Northern Center. While all the still supporting evangelists and ministers of the region locally.

Our children are being provided nutritional food, education, personal hygiene, spiritual guidance and counseling.

Our widows receive a monthly provision of flour and oil. And not only that, their overall well-being and personal empowerment is renewed, restored and edified through the love and comfort of the Gospel of Christ.

And despite facing severe and life threatening persecution, our Evangelists in this region serve and preach the gospel. It has been our honor to support them spiritually and financially. Through the provision of a heartfelt monthly support of 50 dollars, a multitude of their personal needs have been met and taken care of, which henceforth, has enabled them to thrive and fulfill their callings to proclaim the Gospel of life.

  • Religiously, this region is one of the most contentious and boasts a rich heritage of the three largest traditions. Jewish Ethiopians date their relationship back to the time of King Solomon and his relationship with the Queen of Sheba.

Christians have long since called this country home, beginning with the biblical conversion of the Ethiopian Eunuch by Phillip., Then in the 4th Century King Ezana made Christianity the national religion of Ethiopia. Islam also esteems Ethiopia because it was a sanctuary for Muhammad's family during a time of war, allowing them to escape persecution. These three traditions often find conflict in the Northern areas producing even more strain on the impoverished, leaving children orphaned, families destroyed, and a high level of skepticism and mistrust among the people.

The Arega and Shita Feeding Center

Established 2007

Located in the beautiful lakeside city of Awassa, the Arega center serves local poor and orphaned children enrolled in our program. This program is designed to provide unprivileged children the opportunity of getting nutritional food, education, personal hygiene, spiritual guidance and counseling. Children at this center also receive aid in physical development through regular medical checkups and health education.

  • Our volunteers, paid staff, and local Ethiopian partners also provide recreational activities, educational field trips and vocational training. Accountability and adult mentoring provide the students with skills in becoming hardworking, honest and productive members of the community

In 2007, this center was the dream of a few people who provided care for 8 children. Now Awassa is the crown jewel of Elpis. Providing care to 60+ children and connected family members. The Arega and Shita Feeding Center has achieved local and national acclaim being rated as a model NGO in Ethiopia. The growth of this program and the current achievements are a direct result of our dedicated Ethiopian National Staff and the many American volunteers and donors.
